Radiohead - Nude
This movie was made for the Radiohead music video competition. Unfortunately James Houston missed the deadline. The guys from Radiohead put out a statement saying he probably would have won if it had been submitted on time. A great idea turned into a cleverly manufactured original video.

Toki Doki

Toki Doki is a website created by Italian designer Simone Legno in 2005. I first came across this site in 2005 and he has steadily built up a large following and it seems to be getting bigger. The designs he created became so popular that he started to produce merchandise and since then it's gone from strength to strength.

Marketing Gone Wrong...
I was a fan of the clothing label Zoo York but not any more and It's thanks to this little clip. I had to watch this ad through my fingers and not because I hate cockroaches but because of the poor attempt by these middle class homeboys to be "down with the kids". YO YO YO! Just incredibly tacky! I would like to hear your views on this....

Design - Photoshop Disasters...

Fun website documenting awful examples of Photoshop work. Clumsy manipulations, senseless comping, lazy cloning, etc...Amazing to think that most of these ads, posters, etc are actually signed off by Art Directors (highly paid Art Directors I might add...) The Spiderman one for example is pretty poor if you look at it. Kirsten Dunst's left arm would either have to be 5 feet long or she's got 2 elbows....

Design - Business Cards
So you have designed a nice business card. Here's a fun way of giving it out. You could look a bit of a prat if it goes wrong so beware.
Video - Ping Pong
Wow this isn't as easy as it looks, trust me I have tried. Another good idea for a short film.
Video - Google Maps
Well as you know I am off ill today sat in bed covered in snot with a sore throat, so I may as well do something useful like posting a few tit bits. This is a great idea for a short film and I like that they do not show you where the red light is coming from.

Gadgets - Beamz...world's greatest gadget, played by the world's coolest men.
This is the top level of geekiness.....a sound device that when you break the beam plays whatever sound you designate. Unfortunately we may not look as cool as the guys who play this...check out the awesome 'high-five' at the start of the video.
Who 'high-five's' anymore?

Solar, with lyrics. from flight404 on Vimeo.
I don't really understand this but it's good all the same. The animation reads the sound waves and reacts accordingly. (or something like that) Anyway it looks good.
Design - Public Information Films
An interesting site this one. A collection of public information films dating from the 1940's. They could be used in videos and animation projects. Interesting stuff all the same.

Video - 3 Designers at Omaha...
This is an amazing example of three designers who tried to create a seemingly impossible task.
To recreate the opening beach scene of Saving Private Ryan, (a scene that utilized a cast of thousands) except they would do it using just the three of them, a video camera and post production software.
Essential viewing.
Food Fight, Anyone?
The cool video was created using Adobe Photoshop and After Effects. The creator took 3 months to complete the sequence and used digital stop motion techniques within After Effects to create the movement.

Design - Lloyd Farrell
Congratulations to Lloyd Farrell who got a place in Falmouth the most prestigious university in Britain. Falmouths Graphic Design students won 21 major awards in 2005 alone. Then there are the Royal Society of Arts Design Awards, International Society of Typographic Designers’ Student Assessment Awards, and Macmillan Children’s Book Awards that Falmouth students/graduates have won. Last year, Graphic Design students, Tom White and Jonathan Clements, won two out of the four Young Creatives Network Best of Year awards nationwide. Current Graphic Design student, Rose Hall, recently scooped Best in Show at the hotly-contested Future Talent awards and is about to enjoy a year-long work placement in Paris, London, Milan and Hamburg as part of her prize. Falmouth Graphic Design students have also won prestigious Design & Art Direction (D&AD) awards(the Oscars of the design world) and the list of accolades goes on and on. It's an extremely hard course to get into and we hope Lloyd does well. We look forward to seeing him appearing in a future edition of Computer Arts.
